On Patiently Waiting

“My soul, wait silently for God alone, for my expectation is from Him” (Psalm 62:5).

We get frustrated when we don’t get answers to our prayers. We get tired and we tend to lose hope when situations are not getting better. Most times, we question God when we can’t figure things out.

You can be someone like me who likes to live your life being and feeling fulfilled. You don’t want to live every day just getting by adapting to every situation that comes along. All you want is to have the abundant life Jesus spoke of when He said, “I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly” (John 10:10).

We don’t just want to listen to sermons on healing, miracles and power. We want to constantly put faith to action in our lives. We want to pray for blessings, healing and miracles and see manifestations immediately.

You will agree with me that you and I don’t enjoy frustration, failure, going around in circles, making the same mistakes over and getting knocked off by the same limitations and boundaries.

All we want is to overcome every challenge, limitation and circumstance. We want to live in the fulness of God’s blessings, we want to bear fruits and have a sense of fulfillment.

Anytime you find yourself in a position where you cannot control the circumstances around you, you need to  remind yourself that God is in control of everything. There have been times I tried using my knowledge, skills and experience to change certain situations and in the end I realize I needed God’s help.

In the past few months, I’ve had times when I felt completely powerless in the face of my circumstances. I’ve had times when money couldn’t solve my problems and all I needed was just to wait on God. I’ve had times when friends failed me and all I could do was to run back to Jesus because He’s the only friend who will never leave me or forsake me.

We need to understand that without God, little or nothing is what we can do and with God all things are possible. Even when we feel God is not on our side or when we feel our prayers are not answered, I want to assure you that God is a good God and He is always ready to answer our prayers. And to crown it all, prayers work all the time! You can be rest assured that your prayers to God will be answered.

When you have tried everything in your capacity to make things work perfectly but you’re still not getting the desired result, you need to remind yourself that God is all that you need now and always. You have to put your expectations in the Lord and not your ability, people or anything.

You need to go to God and tell Him all you need. “Lord, I look to You for everything I need in my life. Help me to put all my expectations in You.”

Finally my brethren, whenever you are disappointed because your needs are not being met, because your prayers are not answered or because that relationship didn’t end well, talk to yourself and say, “My soul, wait silently for God alone, for my expectation is from Him” (Psalm 62:5).

Shalom!

  1. Great piece. Exactly, how I talked to God. When I realised yesterday, that my time is limited for my exams and I cannot do it by my own strength, I knelt infront of my bed and I actually talk to God all the needs I want. And this message confirms exactly what happened yesterday. I asked for his strength, knowledge and Wisdom as I prepare for it. Thanks for such a wonderful blog. God bless you. I didn’t have a bible quotation supporting it. Your blog has given me one. I will come back to give my testimony here.
